Ca l’Antiga inaugurates 2017-2018 season by coinciding with the beginning of autumn – precisely on 22 September at 20:30 – to close a deadly and hot summer, a summer that has been sad, very sad. Here in the Maresme region we expect anxiously the ‘rentrée’ of nature which in fact doesn’t has here the exuberance of the North with forests that blush featuring a symphony of colours before permanently losing its leaves. Here beside the Mediterranean the mountain breaks away from the dry summer and becomes greener with, here and there, a bit of ochre, little, scattered. This isn’t a show of apotheosis, but it is vital and opens the door to a fertile and green, even warm winter.
Ca l’Antiga is closely attached to the mountain, protected by the Serralada Litoral that became natural Park in 1992. Therefore this year we celebrate its 25th anniversary.
In the Park live together agriculture and forest. Some hundred years ago there were here vineyards before being replaced by trees, some of Mediterranean origin, but also from elsewhere. The Serralada is a natural space, a domestic space and a social space, an economic area and a historical space. And, yes, the cohabitation between humans, rural and urban areas with nature is complex.
Maybe more than two thousand years ago there was a native forest at a time where the inhabitants were few. By increasing, these populations, indigenous and imported just as the flora and fauna, colonized the valleys and hillsides. And, perhaps, even locally, began damages, tangibly changing the environment.
The Park of the Serralada Litoral was created 25 years ago to protect, restore and expand this natural area on the basis of scientific analysis and research and experienced practice of traditional and innovative techniques.
Today, environmental awareness just started to settle as this process has been slow to start in our country. The Serralada Litoral should gradually become more natural, broad and beneficial, recover from the errors committed and combat invasions and ignorant cuts.
Ca l Antiga wishes to join the celebrations of the 25th anniversary with an artistic approach by inviting a three artist that will show us their own vision of the mountain, the forest, the trees, their light, their colors…

Photography exhibition “Imaginant la Serralada Litoral”
The photographer José Antonio Sancho, living in Masnou, did photographs for years in faraway forests fascinated by their appeal, the mystery they exude, but he did not repeat the experience in our Serralada maybe because it’s very close and his walks too normal and frequent to the point that this naturalness neutralized his interest as artist, as photographer.
The works on display in Ca the Antiga from 22 September to 22 October are as brushes made at the leisure of random walks to discover pieces of nature untouched or rebel.
From 22 September to 22 October 2017 at the cellar of Ca l’Antiga
Opening: Friday and Saturday from 18:00 to 21:00, Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00
Sculpture exhibition “Nervacions orgàniques”
The sculptor Pere Baguena loves working with wood to bring out its organic structure. His work looks as plowed by the elements or predators. Air, water, insects, transform wood, however, a transformation made by a hand of artist can help us to understand the difficult balance between nature and man who, while seeking beauty and leisure irreversibly alter the organic clock.
From 27 October to 19 November 2017 at the cellar of Ca l’Antiga
Opening: Friday and Saturday from 17:00 to 20:00, Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00
Performance “Joc poètic de llum i aigua”
Alejandra Rubies expresses herself through visual arts and performing art. Her complicity with the sculptor Pere Baguena pushed them to play with the volumes and images of the sculptures so that we can imagine them turning to his natural environment of the forest with water, light, and poetry.
